Time we saw a miracle

Have you ever received a book in the mail, and had no idea who it came from or why it was sent to you?  ‘Cause I’m having one of those days.  Unexpected book presents are lovely, of course, and the timing is excellent.

Shoulder is still not in good shape, though liberal application of ice the past few days and my regular chiro appointment mean that I can move my fingers without making my shoulder and neck scream (it’s more of a loud cry), which means I can type.  Somewhat awkwardly and slowly, and with lots of breaks and as little movement of my arms as possible.  Who thought I’d ever find a use for playing piano ten years ago?  It’s looking like I have done something (nice and specific, no?) to the shoulder joint, and there is also a pinched nerve in my neck.

One good thing about the shoulder thing is that I’ve been doing a lot of reading on the Kindle the past few days, and I’ve caught up on my TV shows.  I love my PVR.  I did also watch a 19 Kids and Counting marathon, I’m ashamed to say, when there was nothing else on and I was too sore to hold the Kindle.  But we’ll pretend that never happened.  At least now I have a lovely new book to read!  I love ebooks for their convenience and the ability to multi-task while reading, but there is a certain something about physical books that i just love.

I also received my first item from Eden Fantasys for review yesterday, in a tragic case of bad timing.  I suppose it at least puts off the decision of whether to post sex toy reviews here or on a separate blog for a few more days.

Procrastinate, moi?

Hitachi Magic Wand Epilogue

I am a very happy kitten today – the replacement for my broken Hitachi Magic Wand just arrived in the mail!  I am utterly thrilled that they not only agreed to honour the warranty but also sent me a new one instead of just repairing the old one and sending it back.

I’ve noticed a few hits lately from search terms like ‘broken Hitachi Magic Wand’ and ‘Magic Wand warranty’, so, in case anyone else needs the information:

According to the info that came in the box, the Hitachi Magic Wand is distributed in North America by Vibratex, Inc., a sex toy wholesaler based in California, USA.  The instruction booklet has Vibratex’s name and a toll-free 1-888 number on the back cover.  The number did not work for me in Canada.  The warranty card mentioned in its small print that the was valid in the United States, but I decided to continue trying to get in touch with them a) in case they would honour the warranty anyway and b) so I could complain if they didn’t

A little bit of googling around got me Vibratex’s website, where their Contact page lists some more phone numbers and a couple of email addresses.  I emailed the address they provide for warranty info, customerservice@vibratex, with a bit of a blurb about my purchase date and location, the problem I was having with the Hitachi Magic Wand, and asking whether they would honour the warranty even though I’m in Canada.  After a day or two I received a reply:

Please send your defective item along with a copy of the receipt and a note with your contact information and send it to:

Vibratex Returns
38 Executive Ct.
Napa, CA 94558.

Upon receiving your item we will process it in our claims department and issue an order for a new unit to be shipped out to you.  The entire process takes about 7-10 days from the date we receive your item.

As per instructions, I stuck the Hitachi Magic Wand back into its box, printed out the customer service email and my receipt email from EdenFantasys, and highlighted my contact information from that.  I also blacked out the names and prices of the two other items I bought, because I really don’t think Vibratex needs to know that I have a purple Tantus Acute and a bottle of Sliquid Organics lube.  YMMV.

I think it took a little longer than the time claimed, but with international shipping and crossing borders it’s difficult to tell whether the delay was with Vibratex or with the mail.  I have my Hitachi Magic Wand back now, and that’s all that really matters in the long run.

If anyone else outside of the US is unsure whether they can get their Hitachi Magic Wand repaired or replaced under warranty, I strongly suggest emailing them to find out.  It worked for me.

a day in the life

Paladins Do Not Make Good VikingsToday didn’t go quite as planned.  We were originally going to the mall to get my sunglasses fixed and do some window shopping, but it took Roger forever to find the inclination to get ready.  Transformers’ online PvP was much more interesting than plans.  So instead we went out for KFC for dinner and stopped by the local sex toy shop on the way home.  My Hitachi Magic Wand is still out of commission, so a new toy was definitely in order.

I spent some time lusting over the shiny Lelo toys and other assorted V Expensive Items, before eventually settling on an adjustable-strength bullet with three textures silicone sleeves.  I can’t remember the brand name off the top of my head.  And I got a $20 off coupon for December!  There may have to be another trip out there next month…

Once we got home, there was nothing we could do but try out my new toy.  I’ll post a full review some time later this week after I’ve had more time to play, but first impressions are quite positive.  Then Roger made me tea – orange pekoe with milk, which was v nice – and he headed downstairs to his computer while I’m catching up on my tv shows (and blogging, obv).

All in all, a pretty good day.

And now back to Big Bang Theory. ❤ Sheldon.

Pleasurists 100th Edition Toy Giveaway!

Pleasurists is giving away sex toys for their 100th edition celebration!

This is pretty damn awesome, even if the prizes I would seriously love to win (because I am poor and have no money to buy new toys) are not able to be shipped outside of the US.  Which makes me sad, because y’all are less than an hour’s drive away and there is just no love.

But the Giveaway is still awesome, and I will probably still enter for the few items I am eligible for. It would probably be good to broaden my toy horizons.  If only so I shut up about the dead Hitachi Magic Wand for a bit.

So, the items I am entering for are:

  • Crystal Delights plug
  • Astroglide gift basket
  • Unidentified Signed DVD

More info on the contest below, or click in the link at the start of the post to go to the Pleasurists entry with pictures of the items in question.

  • In order to count all entries must be made by November 17th @ 11:59pm Pacific Time.
  • Winners will be picked through random number generator which means it’s possible to win more than one item. The more ways you enter the better your chances are.
  • All winners must write a review of the product you win. Please do not let this stop you from entering, if you do not have a blog suitable for this I will happily host your review on [the Wanton Lotus] review blog.

ode to a hitachi magic wand

You know, it’s strange.  I can’t say I used my dearly departed Hitachi Magic Wand with any structured regularity – sometimes almost every day for a week or two, sometimes a couple of times a week, sometimes not at all for a week or three.  But now my Hitachi Magic Wand is dead, and I’ve missed it fiercely these past…. two weeks.  Is that all it’s been?

The Magic Wand and I took a trip to the post office today, to mail it to Vibratex for repair/replacement/Idon’tcarewhatsolongasIgetitback – I was absolutely thrilled when Vibratex’s customer service replied to tell me that they would honour the warranty even though I was outside of the US.  (And on a side-note – Firefox, pls stop telling me I spelt ‘honoured’ incorrectly.  And ‘spelt’.  kthx.)

So here’s hoping they actually do it, and I didn’t just spend $15 and 30 minutes in line at the post office to be told I wasted my time.

(And $15.  That could totally have bought a bullet or something.)

Hitachi Magic Wand Update

Did I mention that my Hitachi Magic Wand is broken?  Because it totally is.

Good news, however – I got a reply from Vibratex (the North American wholesalers for the Hitachi Magic Wand) today, and it seems that they will repair/replace my Magic Wand despite being north of the US border!

Woot!

I am, needless to say, very pleased about this.  The Hitachi Magic Wand and I will be taking a trip to the post office this weekend, to get it all mailed out and On Its Way To Be Fixed.  Hopefully it doesn’t cost too much to mail…

I had a Plan.Hitachi Magic Wand

It was, if I do say so myself, a rather good plan.  I had intended for my first post to be a review of my much-loved Hitachi Magic Wand; sadly, the universe had other plans, and the universe won the coin-toss.

My Hitachi Magic Wand is dead.

Why would you do this to me, Hitachi Magic Wand?  Have I not loved you (almost) exclusively for a year?  Have I not defended you from my significant other’s laughter at your clunky appearance and loud sound?  Have I not dutifully stayed on my side of the bed so that I wouldn’t accidentally unplug your power cord?

Well, yes, I damn well did.  All of it.  And my Hitachi Magic Wand betrays me.  Woe.  And I don’t even know what I did.

Sunday morning, my traitorous Hitachi Magic Wand was working fine.  Very fine, in fact, even if I do say so myself.  But Sunday evening, I go to turn it on, and my once-beloved Magic Wand sounds like a drill.  Worse still, there is barely any no vibration.  Only noise.  It wasn’t dropped, or damaged, or flung at the wall or hung from the ceiling, or fed to a lion.  My Hitachi Magic Wand just… stopped working.  And instead makes noise.

True to its now-revealed treacherous nature, the Hitachi Magic Wand chose just (literally, twelve days) before the manufacturer’s warranty is up to break.  Long past being able to return it to the store I bought it from.

I just hope they will honour the warranty outside of the US.  Otherwise, I’m screwed.

And not in a good way.
